AIMS & GOALS

To inculcate Islamic Belief in little children.
To make them Allah Conscious
To develop skills i.e. Maths, Writing, Reading, Practical and Problem solving skills.
To prepare children for school.
To provide a safe environment so that the child will not be afraid of new experiences.
To provide opportunities and encouragement towards developing responsibility, self-control and independence while maintaining respect for adults.
To provide a foundation for a lifetime of study.
To prepare them in becoming Khalifatullah fil-ard - Allah's vicegerants on earth.
We at IEOSA believe in setting the right foundation for our children, for a successful career and future.  In keeping with the Islamic ethos, the IEOSA system has attempted to achieve various stages of development within the Islamic activities.  Allah (swt) says in the Noble Qur'aan in Surah 23 Al-Mu'minun 23, Verses 1 and 2,

Successful indeed are the believers who are humble in their Salaah.

With this in mind, we ensure that all our pre-school learners are taught their 2 Raka'at Salaah before venturing into Grade One.  The success of our children is very important to us.  Through Salaah, the different stages of development are perceived, e.g.

A)            Physical development - the large & fine muscles are developed through the actions of Salaah.

B)             Emotional development - trust in Allah - improves confidence.  Connection with the Creator.

C)            Social development - standing shoulder to shoulder, showing brotherhood, physically touching each other.

D)            Intellectual development - Mathematics - concepts of time. Number of raka`aat.

Concentration and Memory -  When performing Salaah.
Visual Perception- Focussing of the eye - practical salaah.
Auditory Perception - Listening to the recitation of the teachers.
Sequencing - What comes first or second, etc.  Through postures - Takbeer, Qiyaam, Qiraat, Ruku, Sajdah, Tasleem - specific sequence in the method of performing Salaah.
Spatial Awareness - That is - position in space:- concept of up, down, right, left - learnt through the postures of Salaah.  Qiyaam shows the meaning of up, Ruku - low, Sajdah - lower.  Tasleem - right / left.  Cupping of the hands in front, etc.
Punctuality - Concept of time - to be on time.
Cleanliness - To be clean and paak with Wudu.
Discipline - Making them aware that to stop everything they are doing and read their Salaah.
Locality -To read Salaah at the Masjid, home, school.

In this manner during the different subjects, themes and the aspects of development are covered, e.g. During Discussion (Morning Ring) the teacher will discuss the Masjid and ask questions on - Why do we read Salaah?  How many rakaats are there in the 5 Daily Salaah?  Naming of Salaah, etc. thus allowing the child to think and reason.
